Liezel is the Cape’s resident fitness enthusiast who is on-air with daily fitness adventures, info and updates. She has the ear of SA’s fiterati and tippy-toed ballerina’s and she often manages to motivate even the unenthused into trying her workout picks.

From completing the notoriously physically and mentally demanding Ironman Triathlon (3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km run) after only 12 weeks of training, to completing the toughest canoe marathon- The Dusi and also placing third in Miss Fitness South Africa , Liezel’s sporting achievements are as diverse as they are impressive.

She passionately maintains an active lifestyle, and enjoys a lot of quality time outdoors. Liezel isn’t afraid of a challenge, especially when she can do it for a good cause. She completed the Cape Town Cycle Tour on a technologically advanced bicycle that was powered by twitter and, so doing, raised funds to buy bicycles for the Velokhaya Life Cycling Academy.

Liezel is also a regular at smaller races, especially those aimed at motivating women to get and stay fit.

“For me it’s about having fun and being social. I am often the person at the back of the race who is talking and encouraging other participants,”

she explains.

The ocean has a special place in Liezel’s heart, and as a certified advance Nitrox Enriched Air deep sea diver, she enjoys spending time diving and exploring oceans all over the world. This fitness enthusiast has dived locally and internationally in Madagascar, the Maldives, and Bali.

Between formal events, you can find Liezel making the most of Cape Town’s seaside location doing any one of the following: stand-up paddle boarding, roller-skating, swimming, road running, and cycling.
