Did you know that voice acting is a profession? It involves hiring a voice actor or actress – otherwise referred to as a voice artist– to represent a character or provide information to an audience or media user. Voice acting is recognised as a specialised dramatic profession, and it’s something that Liezel has gained extensive experience of during her prolific media career.
In fact, she’s so in demand as regards this particular type of work, that you’ll find her in studio almost every week recording voice-overs for a suite of high-profile clients. Experience has taught her to always to be on schedule, to ensure that she reads through her scripts ahead of time and streamlines her mic technique for the very best effect so that she is as prepared as possible (client changes may come through on the day of recording).
Liezel’s repertoire includes, but is not limited to, corporate video narration; radio advertisements; TV advertisements; character voice-overs; telephonic on-hold messaging services; and voice-demo production.
A well-rounded South African who is fluent in both English and Afrikaans, her voice-over clients include sporting brands, financial institutions, travel agencies, shopping malls and music concerts, to name but a few. While these companies are diverse and dynamic, Liezel’s glamour and energy assists her on-air to give a little extra fun and glamour (“pizzazz” is you will) to the products and services that clients sell.
Liezel often records at the Sound Surgeon Studios, where Morné Marais works his magic in production.
