A celebration of all things female, the sixth annual GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards, which took place last night, recognises successful, strong and independent South African females who have excelled in their respective fields.
8 exceptional ladies were recognized by GLAMOUR last night at an all star-studded event held in Hyde Park, but 4Elements is especially proud to announce that one of their very own took home the MEDIA DIVA Award.
Congratulations, Liezel van der Westhuizen!
Glamour spokesperson tells us why she is the most deserving candidate for this award, “Famed for her warmth, vivacity and endless legs, Liezel van der Westhuizen is a media darling with an ability to accomplish anything she sets her mind to. Not only has the 33 year old participated in the demanding Iron Man 2010 and the Dusi Canoe Marathon in 2012, but she has also found the time to learn isiXhosa. Liezel first stepped into the world of media in 2004 when she joined Jacaranda 94.2 FM. Two years later she worked as a continuity presenter on SABC3, making her big break in 2008 as an Idols presenter, where she beat out competition Pabi Moloi and Janez Vermeiren to become only the second woman in the world to present the talent show. In 2010 she joined the SABC breakfast show Expresso but left after two years to complete her PhD in media and communications.”
As Liezel sees it, “There’s always time to do more. I’ll just have to sleep less!”
Congrats Liezel, we are proud of you!
